MDM Implementation
InfoTrellis Smart MDM™ Methodology
Smart MDM™ is a unique, phased and iterative development methodology for MDM implementation and integration projects. This innovative discovery and implementation process is based on the Rational Unified Process (RUP) framework and Agile Development methodology, and is the result of actual lessons learned by InfoTrellis MDM experts across multiple server releases and projects.
Key to the success of Smart MDM™ Methodology is the phased approach, which offers InfoTrellis customers early wins with less effort and lower costs. A gradual implementation also mitigates risks, because you learn from each stage, and can adjust your strategy accordingly.
InfoTrellis Smart MDM™ Methodology covers all aspects of MDM implementation including:
- Existing systems and data analysis
- Data mapping
- Installation and configuration
- Data de-duplication and cleansing
- Initial and delta data loads
- Service integration
- Service and data extensions and customizations
- Data stewardship application
An Iterative Approach
We divide implementation phases into multiple iterations, each providing a fully tested set of MDM and integration features. This allows us to manage your risk, facilitates parallel work streams and significantly reduces time-to-implementation.
The number and duration of iterations, as well as the amount of iteration features, are key planning decisions. Using experience from multiple implementations, InfoTrellis Smart MDM™ consultants base their assessments on the size of the phase, feature dependencies and the phase end date.
During a typical iteration, we will address imperatives such as requirements capture, high-level and detailed design, coding, unit testing and QA. We also predefine errors and exceptions, and use templates for each activity to ensure consistent, efficient documentation. InfoTrellis Smart MDM™ Methodology gives extra emphasis to Quality Assurance, and every feature goes through rigorous unit, functional, integration and performance testing.
Our unique discovery and implementation technology delivers strategic business value through tactical deliverables, covering each of the following stages:
- Discovery and Assessment
- Scope and Approach
- Analysis and Design
- Development and QA
- Deployment
We designed this unique and iterative delivery methodology to link business value and strategy to tactical, quick and logically sequenced deliverables. Each of the five sub-phases includes a detailed series of activities, resulting in specific and defined outputs:

Our unique Onsite/Offsite (OO) delivery model ensures cost-effective project delivery, by enabling us to share key technical MDM expertise, and position deeply experienced MDM resources exactly where they are needed.
Backed by our experienced architecture team, our product consultants bring you the best implementation, technology and development processes to provide a timely and quality implementation.
MDM Mentoring Program
Client involvement is a critical success factor. That’s why we know mentoring is particularly important, both during and after an implementation project. Through training courses and side-by-side work experience, you will collaborate with the InfoTrellis team of expert consultants to drive the design, development and implementation of your MDM solution and integration streams. This transfer of knowledge ensures that you have the tools and skills to manage your MDM environment successfully, without the need for lengthy, costly professional services engagements.
